The Health Services Department uses Medical Information Technologies software modules as the primary point of care information system for its Clinical Laboratory. Pursuant to a Program License Agreement date July 16, 1992, and a Health Care Information System Software Agreement dated April 28, 2003, the County purchased software modules from Medical Information Technology. Modules presently in use include Laboratory Module, Microbiology Module, Anatomical Pathology Module, Blood Bank Module, Materials Management Module, Data Repository and MAGIC Operating Systems (Disaster Recovery). Health Services’ Clinical Laboratory use these modules, which allow an exchange of and immediate access to real-time patient medical information among the Clinical Labs. The County pays Medical Information Technology Inc., annually for the continued use of the software modules.
If this purchase order is not approved, lack of these software applications could disrupt real-time patient data exchange between Clinical Laboratories resulting in data loss.
