BACKGROUND:
The Receiving Center serves as the hub of the Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) emergency shelter system. It provides temporary care to children who have been taken into protective custody and children and youth who are transitioning into foster placements. The Receiving Center offers a homelike setting and is designed to promote stability in placement, focus on the needs of the individual child, minimize move, and supports permanency at the early stages of EHSD intervention.
