RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Jeff Smith, M.D.) to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-306-15 with Per Diem Staffing Systems, Inc., a corporation, effective December 16, 2008 to amend Contract #26-306-12 to increase the total payment limit by $11,354 from $195,000, to a new total of $206,354 with no change to the original term of February 1, 2008 through January 31, 2009.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I.

BACKGROUND:

On March 11, 2008, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-306-12 with Per Diem Staffing Systems, Inc., for the period from February 1, 2008 through January 31, 2009, for the provision of temporary respiratory therapists services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Due to three (3) vacant permanent positions, the Department has had to rely on Per Diem Staffing Systems, Inc. to maintain minimum staffing levels during peak loads. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-306-15 will allow the Contractor to be paid for temporary respiratory therapy services provided through January 31, 2009.
