RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D.), to accept grant award #28-701-3 (#90CX0006/01) from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for the Children and Families (ACF), Family and Youth Services Bureau, in an amount not to exceed $200,000 annually for up to five years, to fund the Runaway and Homeless Youth programs, for the operation of Appian House Transitional Housing Program for youth ages 18-21 in Contra Costa County, for the period from October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Acceptance of these funds awarded is necessary for the development and operation of a transitional housing program for homeless young adults. State funds already allocated to Appian House will be used to satisfy the ten percent (10%) applicant match required by the Runaway and Homeless Youth grant. In addition, in-kind resources have been leveraged from other public entities such as the County Mental Health to support the project. No additional County funds are required.
