RECOMMENDATION(S):

DIRECT the Finance Committee to review in May the employee's list of suggested cost saving measures that was submitted to the Board of Supervisors during the budget process. The committee will report back to the Board of Supervisors in August of 2009 recommendations of possible cost cutting measures as a result of their review.  
  

DIRECT the Finance Committee to evaluate the organizational structure of the County and recommend improvements in prodecures and efficiencies. The Finance Committee will report the results of the study to the Board in October 2009.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No direct impact to the General Fund.




BACKGROUND:

In order for Contra Costa County to survive the current fiscal crisis, we must evaluate all aspect of the organization. By studying possible cost saving measures and the overall structure of the organization efficiencies may be found. We must look at every opportunity to improve the fiscal stability of the County.
