RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Office of the Sheriff’s Forensic Services Crime Laboratory and the Regional Access Network Board, a purchase order with Cogent Systems, Inc., in the amount of $150,019 for three Livescan booking stations.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact to the County General Fund. All Cal-ID purchases are funded by the Regional Access Network Board. Cost is $150,018.26

BACKGROUND:

The Fingerprinting and Identification Unit of the Forensic Services Division is responsible for collecting and archiving fingerprints of all persons processed throughout the county. The purchase of additional Livescan machines will increase input of fingerprints in the store and forward system and the Automated Fingerprint Identification System. The machines will allow the Sheriff's Field Operations Bureau, Juvenile Hall, and Adult Probation Unit the ability to add booking fingerprints into the existing databases.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Additionally, this purchase has been reviewed and approved by the Regional Access Network Board.

In accordance with Administrative Bulletin No. 611, County Departments are required to obtain Board approval for single item purchases over $100,000. The County Administrator’s Office has reviewed this request and recommends approval.
