RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Callandar Associates Landscape Architecture, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $250,000 for countywide landscape architectural services for the period April 1, 2009 through March 31, 2011.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no impact to the County General Fund. Services are paid by developer fees.

BACKGROUND:

Special Districts and Construction staff conducted a search for consultants to provide Countywide Landscape Architectural services. Staff contacted 46 firms and requested a Letter of Interest and Statement of Qualification (SOQ) by December 23, 2008, in order to be considered for a contract.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Of the 46 firms contacted, 11 submitted Letters of Interest and SOQ’s and of these 11 the Construction Division chose 2 firms based on their unique qualifications and staff need. Callander Associates Landscape Architecture, Inc. was one of these firms.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without Board approval, Construction will not be able to provide service with the required level of expertise needed to ensure that landscape areas are designed, constructed and maintained in accordance with the Public Works Department’s Landscape Standards.
