RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Patricia Tanquary) to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #27-622-4 with Young M. Kim, M.D., (dba Young’s OB/GYN), a sole proprietor, in an amount not to exceed $160,000, to provide professional OB/GYN services for the Contra Costa Health Plan for the period from March 1, 2011 through February 28, 2013.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Contra Costa Health Plan (Health Plan) member premiums. Costs depend upon utilization. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

The Health Plan has an obligation to provide certain specialized professional health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County. On March 17, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #27-622-3 with Young M. Kim, M.D., (dba Young’s OB/GYN), a sole proprietor for the period from March 1, 2009 through February 28, 2011, to provide OB/GYN services. Approval of Contract #27-622-4 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide OB/GYN services through February 28, 2013.   

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, certain specialized professional health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County will not be provided.
