RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Patricia Tanquary) to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #27-456-5 with La Clinica De La Raza, Inc., a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $500,000, to provide professional primary care services for the Contra Costa Health Plan for the period from January 15, 2011 through January 14, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Contra Costa Health Plan (Health Plan) member premiums. Costs depend upon utilization. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

The Health Plan has an obligation to provide certain specialized professional health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County. On February 2, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #27-456-4 with La Clinica De La Raza, Inc., a non-profit corporation for the period from January 15, 2010 through January 14, 2011, to provide primary care services. Approval of Contract #27-456-5 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide primary care services through January 14, 2012.   

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, certain specialized professional health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County will not be provided.
