RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21536 to add one (1) Clerk-Experienced Level (JWXB) (represented) position at salary plan and grade 3RH 0750 ($2,712-$3,365); and cancel one (1) Airport Environmental & Community Relations Officer (9BSB) (represented) vacant position No. 6431 at salary plan and grade ZB5 1363 ($4,166 - $5,064) in the Public Works Department.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There will be no additional cost associated with this action. There will be a cost savings of at least $27,728 annually with this action.

BACKGROUND:

As part of the organizational analysis of the Airports Division, the Public Works Department has identified areas where, through natural attrition, duties of single-class classifications can be restructured and realigned within countywide classifications. The duties previously performed by the Airport Environmental & Community Relations Officer have been redistributed, thereby allowing the department to cancel this position. The Clerical duties in the division have been performed by a temporary employee.





CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Failure to approve this action will result in a substantial impact in the Airport Division's ability to provide critical clerical services for the Airport and its stakeholders. This clerical position is the first point of contact for walk up services, and telephone calls; handles tenant issues such as billings and complaints; and, types up letters and handles mailings to the Federal Aviation Administration, among others.
