RECOMMENDATION(S):

AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) Director, or his designee, to purchase items for the 2009 holiday party for Contra Costa County children in the foster care system.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No general fund dollars are used for this event; a donation of $500 has been received from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 302.

BACKGROUND:

Each year, EHSD hosts a holiday party for children in the foster care system. Funds to pay for the event are received from various private, charitable and/or community groups. This is a much-anticipated event each year and provides a safe venue for children in out-of-home care to enjoy the spirit of the holiday season during a difficult time in their young lives.
