RECOMMENDATION(S):

Declare vacant the community seat member #1 on the Advisory Council for Equal Employment Opportunity, held by Miguel Castaneda and direct the Clerk of the Board to post this vacany. Mr. Castaneda resigned from his position on April 24, 2009. It is necessary to fill this vacancy in an effort to bring the Advisory Council to its required number of active members.

The Advisory Council has eleven members and would like to fill this community member seat.

The role of the Advisory Council is to advise the Board of Supervisors regarding the implementation of the County's Affirmative Action Plan; review the County's Affirmative Action Program, the implementation of the County's Contracting Programs (Small Business Enterprise, Outreach, e-Outreach, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program, and Local Business Enterprise Program) recommend actions to facilitate attainment of the County's goals for affirmative action and contracting. The Advisory Council has eleven members and the Affirmative Action Office provides staff support.
