RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Fire Chief, Crockett-Carquinez Fire Protection District, or designee, to apply for and accept Department of Homeland Security, Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program funding in the amount of $159,938 for equipment purchases.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None. The 5% match requirement (approximately $8,000) for these funds will be met by contributions from C&H, Conoco/Phillips, and the Crockett Foundation.

BACKGROUND:

The Crockett-Carquinez Fire Protection District would like to purchase additional equipment, including a Type 4 Engine (brush truck) and radio equipment. The Department of Homeland Security offers a competitive grant process to help fund equipment needs. The Fire Chief, Crockett-Carquinez Fire Protection District has been very succcessful in securing both the grant funds and donations from the community to satisfy the match requirements.
