RECOMMENDATION(S):

Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21423 to add one Mental Health Clinical Specialist position (VQSB) at salary level QT2 1384 ($4214.34 - 6256.22) in the Health Services Department.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of approximately $123,493, including pension costs of $26,651. Funding is available within the Departments current budget. 100% General Fund.

This position will be assigned to the Mental Health's Conservatorhip program and is needed due to increased workload demands. The position will act as a Deputy Conservator and duties will include carrying a caseload of conserved clients, visiting them in the facilities where they reside, assisting with placement, consenting to their treatment and care, on-going monitoring of their care and needs, including attending treatment team meetings, ongoing evaluation of grave disability and/or competency, providing advocacy as needed, writing case notes and reports, testifying in court and collaborating with County Counsel.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, it could negatively impact patient care as well as cost the County additional money for non-reimbursable medical care.
