RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of Health Services Department, to execute a blanket Purchase Order with Smith & Nephew Healthcare, Inc., in the amount of $250,000, for surgical products at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2014.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Enterprise Fund I.

BACKGROUND:

Smith & Nephew Healthcare, Inc. provides instruments, equipment, implants and supplies used in orthopedic, ear nose & throat, endoscopy procedures and surgeries at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this purchase is not approved, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers would not be able to perform various procedures and surgeries.
