RECOMMENDATION(S):

REAPPOINT the following person to the District II Seat of the Arts & Culture Commission of Contra Costa County for a four-year term with an expiration date of June 30, 2015, as recommended by Supervisor Uilkema:

BACKGROUND:

The Board of Supervisors established the Arts and Culture Commission in December 1994 to advise the Board in matters and issues relevant to arts and culture and to promote arts and culture as a vital element in the quality of life for all of the citizens of the County. The Commission consists of eight members: two At Large members, one member nominated by each Supervisorial District, and one alternate. Terms are for four years.

Dr. Marable has done an excellent job in his role as a Commissioner and Supervisor UIlkema would like to reappoint him for another term.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The seat will become vacant.
