RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #26-657-2 with Amarjit Dosanjh, M.D., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $450,000, to provide plastic and hand surgery services, for the period from October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. Rates have changed from monthly stipend to per clinic rate. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On August 25, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-657 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #26-657-1) with Amarjit Dosanjh, M.D. for the period from September 1, 2009 through September 30, 2011, for the provision of plastic and hand surgery services including consultation, training, on-call coverage and medical and/or surgical procedures services for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers

Approval of Contract #26-657-2 will allow Contractor to continue providing plastic and hand surgery services through September 30, 2012.   

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, patients requiring these medical services at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers would have longer wait times and possibly go untreated.
