RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Affiliation Agreement (Amendment) #26-396-3 (#S00-01128A, A-2) with the Regents of the University of California, on behalf of its University of California, Davis, effective July 1, 2011 to amend and extend the term of the agreement from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2016 for continuous training and clinical experience at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None. This is a non-financial agreement.

BACKGROUND:

On December 19, 2000, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-396 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #26-396-1 and #26-396-2) with The Regents of the University of California, on behalf of its University of California, Davis to provide training and clinical experience in the field of family practice for medical students, resident physicians and fellows, family nurse practitioner students, and physician assistant students who are enrolled at U.C. Davis, for the period from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2011.

Approval of Affiliation Agreement #00-01128A (County #26-396-3), will allow County to continue providing training and clinical experience for students who are enrolled at U.C. Davis School of Medicine, through June 30, 2016.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, the students will not receive supervised fieldwork experience at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center.
