RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve Appropriation Adjustment No. 5014 authorizing the transfer of appropriations in the amount of $498,524 from Grant Award 28-346 from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (Health Resources & Services Administration) to Enterprise Fund I for the purchase of two mobile medical vehicles.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Increases appropriations for both revenue and expenditures in the amount of $498,524 from outside grant funds to the Health Services Department specifically for the purchase of two mobile clinics. There is no County match required.

BACKGROUND:

On September 13, 2011 this Board approved acceptance of Federal Grant Award #28-346. This grant provides categorical funding of up to $498,524 for the purchase of two medical mobile vehicles for use by the Health Departments School-based Health Program. Purchase of these vehicles will allow for the expansion of services to school sites not currently being served. The cost of vehicles is 100% funded by the grant. There is no net county cost associated with the purchase.


CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Denial of the request will prevent the Health Services Department from purchasing the mobile clinics and require the return of federal funds for both the vehicles and staff assigned to the clinics.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

These vehicles will ensure that children ready for and succeeding in school.
