RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 20962, to add one (1) Clerk - Beginning Level full-time position (JWXA - represented) at salary level 3R5 0743   
($2,229 - 2,710) in the Health Services Department. (100% Member Premiums)

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of approximately $60,943.87, including pension costs of $21,635.07, and will be funded with member premiums.

BACKGROUND:

This position will be assigned to the Business Claims unit of the Contra Costa Health Plan and is needed to assist in claims processing. Duties of the position will include: manual input of 200 claims per week per mandated timelines to be processed for payment by adjusters; answering phone calls from Providers and checking on claim status; receiving and logging Excel and QikLink system 100+ refund checks per month received from providers for reimbursement; typing denial letters of payments to providers and members; and running daily reports and screening claims for discrepancies.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the business claims unit will not have sufficient staff to process claims in a timely manner which could lead to fines and penalties.
