RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County Contract #26-508-3 with Liam Keating, M.D., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $1,065,000, to provide otolaryngology services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from March 1, 2011 through February 28, 2014.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded by 100% Enterprise Fund I. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services. No rate increase.

BACKGROUND:

On April 8, 2008, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-508-1 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #26-508-2) with Liam Keating, M.D. to provide Otolaryngology services for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers including but not limited to, clinic coverage, consultation, training, administration, on-call and medical and/or surgical procedures, for the period from February 29, 2008 through February 28, 2011.  
  
Approval of Contract #26-508-3 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide Otolaryngology services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Center, through February 28, 2014.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, patients requiring these medical services at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers would go untreated.
